Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. After her parents divorced, she moved with her mom in Los Angeles. However, in 2001, despite difficulties with money she managed to secure her first big performance in the video online show Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's principal character. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the main actress in Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to pursue an even more prominent role in film, appearing opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. The actress has also appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Gyllenhaal is a part of the family, and is the older sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a young teenager as she was cast in minor parts in a few films directed by her father. She also worked with her brother in the 2001 popular film Donnie Darko. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win a Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). The two films received acclaim from critics. The actress gained more attention after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) as well as a number of successful commercial films she starred in the year 2006. The film was nominated in the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role on the film Crazy Heart, (2009). In the following years, she appeared in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Other roles she has played include a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) and The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
